I’m a big fan of Audible. I listen to audiobooks on my way to work and every day before bed. However, there’s no denying that Audible is an expensive service. For starters, the most popular Audible subscription (Gold plan) costs $15/month for 1 credit/month. With the credit obtained each month, you can purchase 1 audiobook of your choice.

But most people don’t know that in addition to the popular Gold plan, Audible also offers two other, less popular plans: the Silver and Platinum plans.

Audible Membership Explained

1. Silver plan

The Silver plan costs $15 every 2 months, instead of every month, and gives 1 credit every two months. This means you get 6 books a year and pay a total of $90 a year.

Silver plans also include benefits for members such as:

  • 30% off any audiobook,
  • return any book purchased last year if you are not satisfied
  • Transfer of up to six credits
  • Access to original premium podcasts in channels.

For some reason, Audible doesn’t promote the Silver plan, and you can’t even sign up on their website. However, you can always email or chat with Audible customer support to sign up for the Silver Plan.

Who should subscribe to the Silver Plan?

If you want to start listening to audiobooks but aren’t sure if it’s right for you, if you don’t want to invest too much money, or if you only listen to audiobooks occasionally, a book every two months is perfect for you.

2. Gold plans

The standard Gold plan costs $15 a month and gives you 1 credit a month for any audiobook of your choice. That means if you stay on the Audible Gold plan for one year, you’ll get 12 books and pay a total of about $180 over a year.

Note: Audible offers a separate Gold Annual Plan that gives you 12 credits in one go and costs you only $149.50 per year.

Gold plans also come with member benefits such as :

  • 30% off any audiobook,
  • Return any book purchased last year if you are not satisfied.
  • Transfer of up to five credits
  • Access to original premium podcasts on channels
